Lymphoma Foundation
The Foundation was created in memory of Sherie DiBernardo who after a lengthy battle with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma passed away just 22 days before her 45th birthday. The Foundation and this site is intended to connect everyone in the community who have been in someway affected by this disease.
About Sherie
Sherie Ann Tom Sun, born on September 18, 1973. Raised in San Pedro Ca, to Philibert and Gloria Tom Sun a family proud of their Hawaiian and Puerto Rican heritage.
Mother of three children, Kiani, Makaila and Koa. Sherie was a well respected and extremely talented Chef, holding positions as a Corporate Executive Chef, Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef. Her passion in the kitchen and cooking from her heart is characteristic of how she lived her life. Full of love, passion and selflessness.
Her devotion to her family, children and friends is what she is most remembered for.
There is not a story that you cannot tell of Sherie without a smile on your face and a warmth in your heart.
About Non Hodgkins Lymphoma
In August of 2016, Sherie was diagnosed with a Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, after a year of treatment, it was concluded that what was a treatable cancer had been diagnosed as ALK Negative Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma a rare and aggressive Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Sherie’s treatment was transferred to City of Hope Hospital in Duarte Ca, where she was treated by Dr. Jasmine Zain. She underwent numerous clinical trials and chemotherapy treatments but with no positive outcomes. She also completed a stem cell transplant that required a lengthy hospital stay and recovery but the radical treatment sadly had no effect.
Sherie’s determination and her spirit never wavered, her strength carried her through this grueling fight.
She left us on August 26, 2018.
We’ve raised over $12,500 in the past year
That money has been donated to The City of Hope Hospital, American Cancer Society and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society which together goes towards helping current cancer patients get to through their treatments and towards research to discover new treatments and cures.
